Morocco-Indonesia: towards the signing of a Preferential Trade Agreement

RABAT, mina — Morocco and Indonesia signed a joint ministerial declaration on Friday over the launch of talks on a preferential trade agreement, Xinhua reported

The signing of the declaration urges strong involvement of their respective private sectors in defining the new model of sustainable partnership based on a win-win approach.

The two countries pledged to ensure that the public sector provides all the necessary support for setting up a strong bilateral partnership in the declaration, which was inked by Rakiya Eddarhem, Morocco’s secretary of state for foreign trade, and Enggartiasto Lukita, Indonesia’s trade minister.

On the side lines of Joint Trade Commission scheduled in November, a Moroccan business mission is expected to visit Jakarta to explore business opportunities with Indonesian businessmen.

According to the Moroccan minister, the move reflects Morocco’s keen interest in furthering its economic relations with Asian countries, and it is a part of a strategic vision aimed at diversifying the kingdom’s partners and promoting South-South cooperation. (T/RS5/RS1)
