Bangkok’s Street Food World’s Best, Bali Ranks 15th, Says CNN

Bangkok, 08 Dzulqa’dah 1437/11 August 2016 (MINA) – Bangkok has been ranked by CNN, a US-based top international news network, as the world’s best city for street food, Thai News Agency (TNA) reports.

Despite not a city but a favorite tourist destination, Bali ranks 15th the world’s best.

According to the CNN’s news website, the Thai capital is on top of its list of a total of 23 cities recently surveyed worldwide in terms of best street food dishes, especially in Yaowarat area, known as the city’s Chinatown.

The CNN website said that sidewalk food vendors in Bangkok offer everything from breakfast, like soymilk and bean curd, to late-night menus such as Phad Thai fried noodle, grilled satay and crisp fried mussel pancake made one by one on a charcoal stove.

Tokyo, Honolulu in the US Hawaii State, Durban in South Africa, New Orleans in the US Louisiana State and Istanbul in Turkey have been ranked second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth by CNN respectively.

Other cities being on the CNN list include Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Beijing, Hong Kong and Mumbai in India.  (T/R07/R01)
