Week of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalist Kicks Off

Gaza,23 Dzulhijjah 1437/25 September 2016 (MINA) – The Palestinian Journalists Forum on Saturday launched the so-called “Free Journalists” solidarity week to mark the Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Journalist, observed on September 26.

An exhibition of live pictures displaying Israeli crimes against the Palestinians since 1948 was put on view by the forum, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported, Sunday (25/9).

The forum’s deputy chairwoman, Heba Skeik, said the exhibition, entitled “Pictures for the Truth”, keeps record of Israeli terrorism against the Palestinian people everywhere across the occupied territories.

She said a series of events are expected to be held during the solidarity week so as to transmit the voice of the Palestinian journalist.

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said, “The Palestinian journalist is the Palestinians’ sole attorney. Israel wants to kill our attorney so that nobody can hear or see the true Palestinian version.”

“The Palestinian cause is fair and legitimate,” he added, urging the world to rebuff Israel’s counterfeit chronicles.

Head of the Palestinian government’s media office, Salama Maarouf, also hailed the role played by the Palestinian journalist in the anti-occupation struggle despite Israel’s ongoing crackdown.

Maarouf urged the international institutions to “speak up against the Israeli crimes endured by the Palestinian journalist.”

He warned of the striking surge in the Israeli violations against journalists in an attempt to prevent any authentic coverage of the anti-occupation struggle.(T/P008/R07)
