VP Amin Opens World Zakat Forum Conference in Bandung
Bandung, MINA – Indonesian Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin accompanied by the Secretary-General of World Zakat Forum Bambang Sudibyo opened the 2019 World Zakat Forum (WZF) conference in Bandung, West Java on Tuesday, November 5.
The three-day conference was entitled “Optimizing Global Zakat Role through Digital Technology”. The theme was taken because technology 4.0 is considered a must in the financial industry. Zakat funds are a very important part and a potential source of social Islamic finance.
Several government ministers were also invited to be speakers at the forum, including the Indonesian Minister of Religion Fahrul Razi, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, and PPN Minister Suharso Monoarfa.
In front of 300 conference participants from 28 countries, Amin said he was proud to be part of the opening of the world’s zakat activist meeting because of the spirit upheld in this WZF to build world zakat movement.
“I am honored to open this very important event at the WZF world meeting to exchange ideas, share in managing zakat,” Amin said.
Currently, Indonesia is committed to becoming the center of the world sharia economy with a commitment to support various aspects of sharia economy, including the development of zakat.
“The government will strengthen sharia-based financial institutions to improve halal industry, sharia industry, and also increase social funding,” he said. (T/Sj/P2)
