London, 26 Jumadil Awwal 1436/17 March 2015 – As the UK marked Mothering Sunday on March 15, Muslims launched a campaign to honor mothers by appreciating everything they do and launching a fundraising appeal for “Mother & Baby Kits”.

“Thank you mother for waking up in the middle of the night when I was crying. Thank you mother for reading me stories before bedtime,” a video released by Al-Mizan Charitable Trust says.

“Thank you mother for putting up with this moody teenager. Thank you mother for teaching me how to do a million things at once.” OnIslam quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The campaign, announced on the Muslim Vibe site, says, “Join us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and tell us what you want to thank your mother for using #ThankYouMother.”

The group received Mother & Baby Kits, which will be distributed on needy mothers, on Sunday 15 March between 1pm and 4pm at Harrow Central Mosque.

The Mothering Sunday is celebrated in the United Kingdom on the fourth Sunday of Lent, this year March 15.

In Egypt and other countries in the Middle East, the day is marked on March 21.

Most of the world countries, however, celebrate it  on the second Sunday of May, including the US.

For many people in the UK, Mother’s Day is now the time of year to celebrate and buy gifts (chocolate, flowers, etc) for their mothers as a way of thanking them for all they do throughout the year.

Britain is home to a

it’s a statement regarding the divine nature of woman and her position in Islam. sizable Muslim minority of nearly 2.7 million, based on the country’s latest census in 2013.

Islam is the best reminder of the virtue of showing kindness to mothers, with the daily encouragement from the Qur’an and the living example of Prophet Muhammad who said: “Do good to and serve your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then the near relatives and then those who come after them.” (Al-Bukhari, 5971)

Motherhood is not merely defined by bearing and raising children; but

Islam has also effectively placed the ultimate reward for human beings in their devotion to their mothers. (T/P007/R03)
