TOURIST ARRIVALS IN INDONESIA JUMP 4.76 PERCENT IN JULY

Jakarta, 17 Dhulqa’dah 1436/1 September 2015 (MINA) – The number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in July 2015 rose by 4.76 percent to 814.2 thousand from 777.2 thousand during the same month last year, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated.
But compared with June 2015, the number of tourist arrivals in July 2015 fell slightly by 0.11 percent, BPS Chairman Suryamin said on Tuesday. Antara quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting

The number of Saudi tourists rose significantly to 22,120 in July 2015 from 9,724 in July 2014. “The number of Saudi tourists increasing sharply is a new phenomenon,” Suryamin said.

The number of tourists traveling to Indonesia via the Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali jumped 6.40 percent to 381.9 thousand in July 2015 from 358.9 thousand in July 2014. Compared with June 2015, the number of tourists visiting the country through the airport was up by 6.76 percent, he said.

Cumulatively, the number of tourist arrivals in the first seven months of 2015 touched 5.47 million, up 2.69 percent from 5.33 million during the same period last year, Suryamin pointed out.

The increase in the number of tourist arrivals in July 2015 also boost the room occupancy rate of star hotels in 27 out of the countrys 34 provinces to 51.25 percent, up by 2.16 points from 49.09 percent in July 2014.

But compared with June 2015, the room occupancy rate at star hotels in July 2015 fell by 2.89 points, he said. (T/P008/R03)
