Preliminary findings show that the deadly blast at Russia’s Volvograd train station earlier on Sunday is the work of a suicide bomber, Russian authorities said.

The National Anti-Terrorist Committee called the explosion an act of terror, and said that the explosive device was detonated by a suspected female suicide bomber.

Since Sunday, Russian Investigative Committee Representative Vladimir Markin said that a criminal investigation has been launched into the attack.

Russian Prime Minister Putin said that Putin gave instructions towards taking all precautions to help those affected by the blast.
