Saudi Foreign Minister Meets Indonesian Counterpart
Saudi FM Al-Jubair and Indonesian FM Retno Marsudi
Riyadh, 9 Rabiul Akhir 1437/ 19 January 2016 (MINA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubair met here on Monday with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, currently visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a press statement following the meeting, Al-Jubair described the Saudi-Indonesian relations as distinguished relations, saying that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen to have better relations with Indonesia, SPA quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
He noted that the visit of the Indonesian Foreign Minister to the Kingdom is continuation of the previous exchanged visits between the two countries, including the visit of the Indonesian President to the Kingdom and the visits of the Saudi officials to Indonesia.
‘As you can see, there is augmentation of bilateral relations between the two countries and there is work to establish
strong relations in the political, economic and investment fields’. Al-Jubair said.
He added, ‘The Kingdom appreciates the positive role of Indonesia in the Muslim world and in the world, and the kingdom and Indonesia, as you know, are members of the G-20, so there is a very great work in the economic field between the two countries, and we look forward to further strengthening of these relations between the two Islamic countries’.
For her part, the Indonesian foreign minister said that her visit to the kingdom reflects the strong bilateral ties
between the two countries, pointing out that during the meeting they focused on economic cooperation between the two countries and the Saudi investments in Indonesia, as well as the possibility of cooperation in the field of banks and other areas.
The meeting was attended by a number of Saudi and Indonesian officials. (T/R07/R04 )
