Russian Islamic Traditions Exhibition Opened at Jakarta Istiqlal Museum
Jakarta, MINA – Photo exhibition Islamic Traditions in Russia held at Bayt Al-Quran and Istiqlal Museum, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMIII) Jakarta officially opened Tuesday.
The exhibition, which took place from February 26 to March 18, 2019, has been held in collaboration with the Russian Mufti Board with the Directorate General of Islamic Community of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia.
Indonesian Minister of Religion, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said he was grateful to have the opportunity to open an exhibition held to celebrate 70 years diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia.
“It is not just celebrating relationships that have been established very well, but also at the same time through this exhibition, we have the opportunity to preserve the growing Islamic culture in the world, ” Saifuddin said when opening the exhibition.
After inaugurating the exhibition Saifuddin went around looking at the photos. He seemed enthusiastic about visiting a photo exhibition of Muslim life in Russia.
“This is a photo of musabaqoh Tilawatil Quran, where the participants are Indonesian. We will install it especially at the exhibition this time, ”said the curator Nargilye, while showing one of the photos of MTQ implementation in Russia to the Minister of Religion.
Nargilye explained, this exhibition featured more than 150 photos that told about the lives of more than 25 million Muslims in the country.
This photo exhibition consists of eight parts, each of them represents one of eight Russian federal districts. The photos on display include the Islamic tradition of Russia, the daily lives of Muslim residents and the magnificent historic mosques in the country nicknamed the Red Bear.
Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Lyudmila Vorobieva said, the collaboration between Indonesia and Russia that had been established since 70 years ago. It was marked by the arrival of President Soekarno in Russia. Until now, diplomatic relations between the two countries are still quite good, including in matters of religious life.
“This is realized by the existence of student exchanges to the delivery of the Qur’anic Tilabail Musabaqoh contingent between the two countries,” said Lyudmila Vorobieva.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the Russian Mufti Board Rushan Hazrat Abbyaso stated, this photo exhibition aimed to introduce Muslim life in multi-ethnic and multicultural Russia. He also delivered greetings from Muslim leaders and 25 million Muslims in Russia.
“Islam has lived in our country for more than a thousand years. The photo exhibition conducted in Indonesia, proves that Indonesia is an important partner for Muslim life and the development of Islam in Russia, said Rushan Hasrat Abbyasov.
On that occasion, Rushan also expressed his gratitude to the Lajnah Pentashihan Al-Quran Mushaf (LPMQ) which has facilitated the event. (TL/Sj/P2)
