Quran Competition Marks the Opening of International Ulema Meeting in Padang

Padang, 17 Shawal 1438/7 July 2017 (MINA) –  Al Quran Competition (Musabaqah ) will be the opening ceremony of international dai (preacher) and ulema meetings in Padang City, West Sumatra on 11 to 21 July 2017.

“Musabaqah Quran will be a sign of the commencement of the International Ulema Meeting,” said Mayor of Padang, Mahyeldi Ansharullah, in Padang.

He mentioned, this occation will be opened on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Hajj Boarding House Padang. This activity is planned to be attended by the Imam Masjidil Haram from Saudi Arabia. Republika reported.

“This competition is followed by the memorizers of the Quran throughout West Sumatra and other regions. Approximately 300 hafiz will participate in the occasion for three days,” he said.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla will open the meeting held in West Sumatra Grand Mosque, he said..

In addition, the meeting will also discuss business and investment. “We hope not only to get religious investment but also physical development,” he said.

Another purpose of organizing this meeting is to promote Padang to the international community as a good halal tourism destination. (P2/RS5
