President Jokowi Welcomes MTQ International Winner

President Joko Widodo accepted the presence of Syamsuri Firdaus, first winner of the Al-Quran recitations on MTQ at Istana (Instagram)

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo accepted the presence of Syamsuri Firdaus, the winner of International MTQ (Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran) in Turkey.

After meeting with the President at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/2), Syamsuri claimed to have received praise. “Your voice is good,” Syamsuri said, mimicking President Jokowi’s praise for him, which he answered immediately, “Thank God, Lord’s favor.”

Syamsuri said that the President advised to remain enthusiastic and fight earnestly to improve and broadcast Al-Quran to motivate, inspire the next generation of nation.

The Qori who born in Sila Rada, Bolo Subdistrict, Bima Regency, NTB won the 7th International MTQ championship in Turkey held on May 20-25 2019 at the Great Camlica Mosque, Istanbul.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave an award directly to Syamsuri Firdaus and to the runner up from Nigeria. This International MTQ is followed by various Middle Eastern and European countries. (L/Sj/P2)
