Brasilia, 4 Shawwal 1436/ 20 July 2015 (MINA) – Living with diabetes is difficult and demanding for the patient and their families. There are grave economic consequences for the family and ultimately for the country where there are high concentrations of diabetic victims.

According to the IDF Diabetes Atlas, sixth edition, of the International Diabetes Federation 2014, 387 million people globally were living with diabetes in 2014. This number will increase to 592 million globally by 2035, an appalling increase of 55%, Halal Fosus quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

It was in mid-2014 when the management of the privately held Brazilian company IAH Comercio de Cosmeticos, Ltda. (“IAH Cosmetics”), realized that despite these alarming statistics, the cosmeceutical* market offers very few products for the care and prevention of diabetes-related issues (*Cosmeceuticals are cosmetics with active biological ingredients). The management lost family members who died of diabetes and continues to endure more family members that have to live with diabetes. It is crucially important to understand the social impact this disease has on families, health care systems and governments around the World.

In honor of the family members that the IAH management lost to diabetes, and in recognition of the fact that literally billions of U.S. Dollars and tenths of thousands of lives can be saved with aggressive management and treatment of diabetes, the management of IAH Cosmetics decided to invest their own financial assets and corporate resources to develop the product line: a first-ever in the world halal, vegan, 100% environmentally conscious, cruelty-free, all natural and Amazon-sourced diabetes product line for the care of pre-diabetic or diabetic patients, the Apoema® Pro Care Diabetes Care product line.

IAH Cosmetics, the proud owner of the Apoema® brand, is an export-oriented innovative cosmetic and cosmeceutical Brazilian company that manufactures and markets premium quality Brazilian Natural Cosmetics since 2008. IAH is constantly developing ground-breaking new brands like the Apoema® Pro Care Diabetes Care® product line and continuously adds these brands to its expanding portfolio. For more natural, vegan, organic, cruelty-free, Amazon-sourced products please visit Apoema® at www.apoemacosmeticos.com

Apoema® is backed by its state-of-the-art manufacturer that provides assurance and security of the manufactured products under ISO22.716/GMP standards and supervision. Apoema® Pro Care products allow a patient to carry-out a normal life, without increasing the risk of complications resulting from contact with irritating, sensitizing ingredients or damage to the cutaneous protective barrier that might already be weakened.

The all natural product line helps to organically control Opportunistic Pathogenic Microorganisms. By using natural plant extracts and essential oils the products are not classified as being pharmaceutical products. For example, as a cosmetic product, the formulation of the Apoema® Pro Care Foot Lotion is designed to deeply moisturize the skin of the feet without causing a feeling of oiliness or greasiness.

The Pro Care products preserve the quality of the cutaneous ecosystem thereby providing an efficient service preventing adverse effects related to diabetic skin and oral care and helping to increase the quality of physical and emotional life for the diabetic patient. The Apoema® Pro Care Diabetes Care line is centered on the papain protein of the Papaya fruit and Andiroba oil which has very potent medicinal effects. Papain has rejuvenating and moisturizing properties for epidermal cells. Using papaya and papain makes a natural, plant-based alternative to exfoliates.

Since the decision to create the Apoema® Pro Care product line, IAH Cosmetics has achieved one milestone after another:

The Association for Diabetes Assistance (“ANAD”) in Brazil and IAH Cosmetics entered into an inventive and exclusive Technical-Scientific Partnership Agreement for the proprietary development of specially formulated diabetic skin and oral care products. ANAD is represented by Prof. Dr. Fadlo Fraige Filho, Titular Endocrinologia Fac. Med. FUABC, President of ANAD and FENAD, and a Member of the International Diabetes Federation (“IDF”) Task Force Insulin. ANAD is an active member of FENAD and the IDF. The IDF is actively supported by the United Nations, New York. ANAD also agreed to grant IAH Cosmetics the right to carry ANAD’s seal of Quality and Trust on all products.

The technical-scientific response to this global dilemma was provided by one of Brazil’s most renowned cosmetic and cosmeceutical developers who developed this clinically-proven diabetic product line that evidences amazing results.

IAH Cosmetics then established its alliance and partnership with The Brazilian Islamic Center for Halal Food Stuff (“CIBAL HALAL”). CIBAL HALAL is the marketing arm of the Federation of Muslims Associations in Brazil. CIBAL HALAL has agreed to certify all of the products of IAH as “halal” and as such opened a 1.5 Billion potential customer market for IAH Cosmetics.

CIBAL HALAL certifications enjoy a global recognition, amongst others by the World Muslim league (Rabitat Al Alam Al Islam) in Makah, Saudi Arabia; the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Al Awgaf Ministry in Cairo, Egypt; the Municipality of Dubai; the Ministry of Environment and Water of the United Arab Emirates; the Abatam Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM); the Majelis Ulama Indonesia (Llppom Mui); the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapore (Islamic Religious Council of Singapore).

As a Member of the World Halal Food Council (WHFC), the Brazilian-Arabian Chamber of Commerce in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Islamic Chambers of Commerce in Brazil, CIBAL HALAL is recognized by Muslim authorities of many Islamic countries as well as nations with a meaningful number of Muslim followers (Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Syria, Europe, South Africa and USA).

IAH Cosmetics subsequently obtained independent clinical studies to be conducted on the Apoema® Pro Care product line. The studies were completed by an internationally renowned dermacosmetic research and assessment center that specializes in studies for assessment of the safety, efficacy and performance of cosmeceutical products. The center employs specialists in dermatology, ophthalmologists, gynecologists, pediatricians, dentists and clinicians, in addition to a technical team trained and certified in clinical research.

All studies have been conducted under domestic and international clinical study standards, including the pharmacovigilance program of the Upsala Monitoring Centre of the World Health Organization (WHO), where applicable, and the rules and regulations of the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The clinical trial results surpassed all expectations.

Furthermore, IAH Cosmetics secured its exclusive world-class production facility in Diadema, SP, Brazil. Whether producing for Dior, Givenchy, Mary Kay, Unilever, L’Oreal, Yves Rocher, or now for Apoema®, this exclusive Apoema® manufacturer with its strong GMP standards culture and backed by its ISO 22.716 Certification is becoming one of the leaders of the Brazilian market and an ideal exclusive manufacturing partner for Apoema®. By means of this strategic move, IAH Cosmetics now owns the exclusive manufacturing rights to the first halal-certified manufacturing line in all Latin-America.

IAH Cosmetics’ success story does not end here.

The management of IAH Cosmetics recognizes that the diagnosis of diabetes in a low or middle-income country can often drag entire families into poverty. For a demonstration of the epidemic social impact this disease has, please refer to the Social Impact study on the diabetes website of IAH Cosmetics at http://goo.gl/X8zAn1.

In light of this dramatic social impact and the injustice and inequality caused thereby, IAH Cosmetics is organizing fund raisers with corporate and private supporters to limit the financial exposure of low or middle-income patients and families who can then still enjoy the many benefits of the Apoema® Pro Care Diabetes product line free of any costs.

Visually impaired diabetics and those losing vision have to continue to live independently. Apoema® has opted to assist visually impaired diabetics by printing Braille on the primary packaging of its Diabetes Pro Care product line. Braille is the internationally widespread reading and writing system for blind and partially sighted people. While the European Union has issued directives to print Braille on nutraceutical and pharmaceutical labels, no such directive exists for cosmetics or cosmeceuticals within the European Union or any other country in the World. Apoema®, however, strongly opines that blind diabetics and diabetic patients with impaired vision deserve correlative independence with cosmeceutical products and for that principle Apoema® is vanguarding this initiative.

IAH Cosmetics is using Green Plastic for its Diabetes Pro Care line of bottles. Green Plastics are made from sugarcane ethanol, which results in lower greenhouse gas emissions and are made from 100% renewable raw materials.

These innovative halal, vegan, 100% environmentally conscious, all natural, amazon-sourced products are expected to have an enormous positive social impact and subsequently lower Government health-care spending in countries with a high concentration of diabetic sufferers.

With a pre-production order book of more than 3,000,000 units for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the success continues with product registrations in Qatar and Dubai, followed by alacrity in Canada, Egypt, India and an ever increasing list of countries.

While this article was read, approximately 150 – 200 people died of diabetes. We all need to take action now. IAH Cosmetics is offering a platform for another milestone.
