OIC members agree to ban Israeli Settlers to Enter Al Aqsa

Jakarta, 27 Jumada Awwal 1437/7 March 2016 (MINA) – All Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) state members agreed to ban Israeli settlers from entering and doing provocative acts in Al Aqsa compound as it is the holy places and places of worship of Moslems.

The statement was said in the joint press statement of extraordinary summit delivered by the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the president of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and the secretary general of OIC Iyaad Ameen Madani, Monday.

The conference with themed “United for a Just Solution” trying to push a message of unity both for the Palestinians and for the OIC countries, as well as improving the Palestinian struggle through the United Nations agencies and other multi-national organizations. The event also discussed the formation of advocacy team, financial assistance, human resource development, as well as capacity building for the Palestinian people skills.

The resolution of the Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif issues is not only important for Palestine and Indonesia, but also for all OIC members, since the OIC was formed following the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem in 1969.

Holy sites owned by Muslims, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque until now is still in the grip of Israel. Those need to be saved immediate from the damage caused by Israeli actions.

For Indonesia, the support for the Palestinians is an integral part of the mandate of the 1945 Constitution to abolish the occupation and implementing public order based on freedom, peace and social justice.

The summit attended by 605 delegates from 50 countries members. Indonesia as the host of the event based on the request of Palestinian presedent Mahmoud Abbas and Secretary General of OIC Iyaad Madani. (L/R03/R04)
