OIC 2nd Media Award Meeting to Promote Dialogue, Kicked off
Jeddah, MINA – Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states’ second meeting of the Committee for International Islamic Cooperation Award was launched here today, to reward media and media professionals promoting dialogue, tolerance and intercultural harmony, SPA reported.
The Director of the Permanent Committee for Cultural Affairs, at the OIC Ambassador Omar Seck said that the meeting came to complete the procedures for launching the award, noting that the first meeting of the Committee was held in the Senegalese capital Dakar dealt with the conditions of launching the award and answered all queries.
For her part, the Director of the Media Department of the OIC Maha Aqeel said that the first meeting witnessed identification of the name of the award, targeted audience, press groups in which it could participate, subjects, languages, awards and arbitration committees.
The proposal was presented at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jeddah.
Director General of the OIC Federation of News Agencies Issa Khaira stressed the great importance of the award in supporting the voices calling for peaceful coexistence among the peoples of the world and confronting racist and hatred speech in the media.
The first meeting of the Prize Committee was an important step in the preparation of the draft award, adding that: we are meeting today to complete the resolution of a number of points related to the organizational and technical aspects of the award, so that it will be ready for formal launch on the date set, during next coming twelfth session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers, to be held in the Republic of Turkey, he concluded.
