Washington, 11 Muharram 1437/24 October 2015 (MINA) – The U.S. President Barack Obama appointed Friday Brett McGurk as the new U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter Daesh.
McGurk replaced the retired Marine Gen. John Allen, who is stepping down after 13 months of service as the special envoy for the global coalition to fight Daesh, Anadolu Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
McGurk was the deputy of Allen. Previously, he had served as Special Advisor to the National Security Council under Obama.
Allen will leave office on Nov. 12. (T/P010/R04)
