NGOs Conference. Kicks Off with Large Participation
Kuwait, MINA – The Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to Support the Humanitarian Situation in Iraq is to kick off here on Monday to tackle latest developments in the humanitarian situation.
It coincides with Kuwait’s hosting of the International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq, according to KUNA.
The conference, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti government, will start with a wide range of international figures, which will include a number of sessions and leaders from around the world that will talk about their humanitarian experiences.
The one-day conference will be attended by a group of speakers representing around 70 humanitarian organizations, including 30 regional and international organizations; 25 Iraqi organizations and 15 Kuwaiti organizations.
The first session of the conference will discuss the humanitarian situation and response efforts in Iraq.
The second session will discuss the declaration of programs to support the humanitarian situation in Iraq for the year 2018.
The third session will discuss the role of civil society in building confidence.
The conference aims at assessing the humanitarian situation in Iraq and mobilizing local, regional and international organizations efforts and to learn about the basic
needs of the Iraqis who suffered tremendously and were affected by armed conflicts. (T/RS5/RS1)
