Najib joined more than 2,000 guests for “Majlis Tahlil dan Kesyukuran” in conjunction with 70th anniversary of UMNO.

Kuala Lumpur, 05 Sya’ban 1437/13 May 2016 (MINA) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak joined UMNO members at a Tahlil and Yasin reciting programme at Surau Ar-Rahman, Putra World Trade Centre here tonight in conjunction with UMNO’s 70th anniversary celebration.

Also present was his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Tahlil and reading of the Yasin took place after the Maghrib prayer and was led by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, who is also UMNO Supreme Council member, Bernama was quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The programme was held to commemorate the contributions and deeds of previous UMNO leaders and members, as well as for Kuala Kangsar Member of Parliament Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad and Sungai Besar Member of Parliament Datuk Noriah Kasnon who perished in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on May 5.

After the Isyak prayer, Najib, who is UMNO president, proceeded to the Dewan Merdeka for the party flag-hoisting ceremony, with UMNO members singing the party’s anthem “Bersatu, Bersetia, Berkhidmat.”

Najib also cut a glutinous rice cake as a symbol of the 70th anniversary of the party. T/R07/R01)
