Cairo, 7 Rajab 1435/7 May 2014 (MINA) – Aisha Al-Shater, daughter of the detained deputy leader of the Muslim Brotherhood Khairat Al-Shater said in press statements that Al-Sisi’s attempts to link her father to violence is “unfounded” and “unacceptable”.

In his first campaign interview aired Monday, presidential hopeful and leader of the July 3 military coup Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi claimed that “one leader of the Muslim Brotherhood” met his for 45 minutes after the coup, and told him that fighters from Syria, Libya and Afghanistan will fight against him. When the interviewer asked if he was referring to Al-Shater, Al-Sisi vaguely said: “sort of”.

In response, Aisha said: “All I know is that when some media figures incited people to burn our house, my father told us: we are not advocates of violence, and they will never drag us to that,”  according to Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reports  quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

“Linking my father to any violence is unacceptable. He always urged us to love Egypt and serve its people. He lived for his country and did not migrate like other businessmen,” she said.

She also added that the biggest proof of her father’s pacifism is that “when the Muslim Brotherhood were elected to power, he did not revenge or call for revenge against those who unjustly imprisoned him for 12 years”. (T/P01/E01).
