King Salman Affirms Support for Palestinian Independence
Riyadh, MINA – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held a meeting with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Riyadh on Wednesday 16. Enhancing bilateral relations was the main topic discussed at the meeting.
Abbas said the Palestinians supported and stood alongside the Saudi in fighting terrorism. He thanked King Salman for the support he had provided so far for the Palestinian people.
For his part, King Salman renewed the Kingdom’s support for the Palestinian people and leadership, and offered all that is needed to support their efforts to achieve their legitimate rights and build their independent state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital based on the internationally recognized resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, WAFA reported.
When meeting with King Salman, Abbas was accompanied by several Palestinian officials, including Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Organization Executive Committee Saeb Erekat, Chief of the General Authority of Civil Affairs Hussein Al-Sheikh, Chief of Intelligence Maj. Gen. Majdi Al-Khalidi, and Palestinian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Bassam Al Gosh.
Abbas arrived in Saudi on Tuesday. There was no information on how long he would hold a visit in the country. (T/Ais/P2)
