Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian shuttler Jonatan Christie, nicknamed Jojo, won the men’s singles gold after beating Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno badminton stadium in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/8) afternoon.
Indonesia has long time enough not to win any gold medal in the singles at the Asian Games as Taufik Hidayat did 12 years ago.
Jonatan needed three sets to defeat his opponent, winning with a scorel.21-18, 20-22, 21-15.
Jonatan celebrated by taking off his shirt, with the spectators giving the champion a standing ovation while shouting “Indonesia … Indonesia … Indonesia.”
