Jakarta, 27 Jumadil Awwal 1437/7 Maret 2016 (MINA) – On its bilateral meeting with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stressed out the importance of the Palestinian internal reconciliation for the sake of freedom.
The meeting held in the Cockatoo room in the sideline of the Fifth Extraordinary OIC Summit on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, on Sunday evening.
Indonesian continues to support Palestinian independence, said Jokowi, and will be implemented within the framework of a two-state solution and in line with UN resolutions. Indonesia supports East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as Palestine’s capital city.
And to make this come true, the President stated that the Palestinian national unity is fundamental. Indonesia will encourage all factions to unite in order to achieve Palestinian independence.

The President hoped that the Summit will be able to provide concrete solutions. Indonesia will continue to participate in its favor.
In this meeting, the President Jokowi said that as a close relative of Palestine, is an honor for Indonesia to host this summit. Especially as it this time focus on Al-Quds Al-Sharif, one of the core issues in long term occupation.
Jokowi added that the summit is a form of full support and solidarity with Indonesia and the OIC towards Palestinians. “I hope this summit to encourage the unity of the OIC member countries in support of Palestinian freedom and resolve issues in Al-Quds Al-Sharif,” he said.
He also hoped Muslim countries would play bigger role in realization of the support. (L/R04/R03)
