Japan-Indonesia to Strengthen Defense Cooperation

Jakarta, MINA – Japanese Ambassy in Jakarta, Indonesia held Japan Self-Defense Forces Day 2019 reception on Thursday night, July 11. It was invited all defense attaches of domestic and abroad.

Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Masafumi Ishii said the reception as a mean to strengthen defense cooperation between Japan and his friendly countries, including Indonesia.

“We have to increase the important role of peace and stability, regionally and globally. So that, it needs to be supported by countries, including Indonesia,” Masafumi said on the sidelines of reception in Jakarta.

Masafumi is very optimistic with the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan which is running for 61 years. It will be growing better until the two countries get success.

“Japan is growing fertile Intensive and always being partners of Indonesia, especially in the field of education, trade, investment,” Masafumi explained.

He continued the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan has been tied well, with evidence that the two countries exchange their best officer to strengthen defense cooperation.

“We need to unite our sources, we need time to join with Japanese ships which come to Indonesia land during this year, we need contact point,” Masafumi explained.

Meanwhile, Indonesian representative Brigadier General Dadang Ahmad believed that the relationship between Indonesia and Japan will be growing better in the future. He remembered that the obstacle is also growing difficult.

“We express congratulation to strong Japanese force defense and public services from generation to generation are growing advance,” he said.

The reception was invited as 200 guests, including Indonesian Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Susi Pudjiastuti, Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, ambassadors of friendly countries, and national figures such as Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin who received Bintang Jasa award from Japanese Government.
