Al-Khalil, 17 Sha’ban 1436/4 June 2015 (MINA) – The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) continued to delay releasing the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Speaker Aziz Dweik despite serving his one year sentence.

PLC Speaker is supposed to be released on May 25, 2015 as he was arrested on June 16, 2014, where according to the Israeli law 23 days have to be reduced per year from each prisoner’s sentence, Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Dweik was sentenced to one year and fined 6,000 shekels.

His family expressed surprise over the international human rights organizations and Parliamentary institutions’ continued silence towards Israeli violations against him despite he represents the highest Palestinian legislative body.
