International Muslim Scholars to Meet in Padang

Padang, 3 Sya’ban 1438/ 30 April 2017 (MINA) – International scholars and preachers will gather in the West Sumatra Provincial City of Padang, in July 2017 for an international Islamic clerical meeting.
The meeting that will bring together hundreds of scholars and preachers throughout Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe is scheduled to take place from 10 to 20 July.
Bearing the theme “Millions of Blessings for the Municipal City of Padang Toward Halal Destination of the World”, the meeting will take place in a number of venues as it includes several events such as seminars, tahfiz competitions, and others.
“Padang City is ready to host the international meeting,” said Padang Mayor H. Mahyeldi Ansharullah Dt Marajo, Saturday (29/4) in a press release issued by Padang City Public Relation Office and quoted by MINA.
There will be a seminar with 50 sheikhs from Saudi Arabia during the meeting.. There will also be approximately 300 delegates from Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe. Padang City Government and various related institutions have conducted discussions and meetings to finalize the preparation of these activities .
Meanwhile, Head of the People’s Welfare Section at the Regional Secretariat of Padang City Jamilus said, his side will continue to socialize and publicize this planned activity to the people of Padang City as the activity is an international agenda.
“The city government of Padang has budgeted one billion rupiah and additional funding from sponsors for the activity. This activity is held in partnership between the Government of Padang with Saudi representatives of Al Munawarah Foundation who are in Jakarta, ” he explained.
Besides holding tahfiz competition at Haji Tabing Padang, there will be the inauguration of Jabal Rahmah Mosque at the foundation complex of Siti Rahmah Air Pecah, the rebuilding of houses for the poor by Baznas Kota Padang, and free medical treatment during the meeting.
Jamilus expressed the hope that hundreds of participants will come to the event. They will spend their money here, so the economic turnover of our society will increase ,. (L/R07RS5)
