Indonesian President Arrives in New Zealand

The Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrives in New Zealand Sunday for a brief visit following the meeting with ASEAN leaders in Sydney.

Mr Widodo will be in New Zealand for just a day, according to RNZ.

He will meet the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern who said they will discuss trade and other issues of common interest.

Indonesia has the world’s fourth largest population and is the world’s third largest democracy.

It is the largest economy in ASEAN and has trade with New Zealand worth $1.8 billion.

Indonesia’s very influential. It’s important to note it’s a part of the G20, it’s our closest Asian neighbour, it’s going to be the seventh-largest economy in the world., said Vice-chair of the ASEAN New Zealand Business Council, Lester Khoo, (T/RS5/RS1)
