Jakarta, 1 Rajab 1436/20 April 2015 (MINA) – Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno L.P Marsudi asserted that the main chalenges of Asia-Africa countries is modern colonialism and imperialism. So, the countries have to unite to fight against them.

Palestine’s issue is our main agenda which is being discussed in the meeting. The nation until now still under the Israeli occupation. Asian-African countries should unite to support Palestine to gain their independence,” said Retno in the opening session of Ministerial Meeting, Asian African Conference Commemoration, Jakarta, Monday.

The minister stated that Indonesia consistently support the two state solution in Palestinian issue. “ It will become the message of the meeting for the issue,” she said.

Concerning the economic issue, the minister stated, nowadays, as many as two million people still live under the poverty. “ Two million people just get under two USD per day,” she stated.

“ We want to see the equality among Asian African countries, she said. The meeting is going to focus on the economic issue by developing South-South and triangular cooperation.

The minister said Indonesia played a critical role in South-South and Triangular cooperation. It had hosted South-South and Triangular cooperation events, such as providing diplomatic training to representatives of Asian and African countries, as well as Latin America, several times. Indonesia has also supported the funding of South-South and Triangular cooperation activities.

The meeting also focuses on three main agenda. Those are political, economic and social culture.

The 60th commemoration of the Asian-African Conference kicked off in the Indonesian capital on Sunday, amid high hopes to boost cooperation among countries of the Southern Hemisphere. (L/P008/R03/P3)
