INDONESIA ULEMA: HAJJ SYMBOL MUSLIM UNITY

Jakarta, 10 Dhulhijjah 1435/4 October 2014 (MINA) – Hajj is a symbol of Muslim unity, so that they could unite if practicing Shari’a as the Hajj rituals that must be performed in accordance of the Prophet Muhammad guidance.

“The entire rule which are practiced in the the Hajj rituaals end up on the importance of unity and solidarity of Muslims,” said Indonesian Ulema as well as Indonesia delegate for Al Quds, Yakhsyallah Mansur during Idul Adha sermon, Saturday.

According to the chief of Al-Fatah foundation, the sacrificial worship should also be a lesson about brotherhood as a root of unity. “With this sacrifice, Islam teaches its followers to always pay attention to the interests of his brother especially who are the poors,” he added.

Today (Saturday), Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah) as a unitary Muslims institution hols Eid al-Adha sermon in many part of Indonesia regoins. They refers to global rukyat (see the new moon) with Mecca as a center of Hijria calendar.

To unify Islamic world Calendar, the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) actually has held the Convention of Istanbul 1978, the meeting of Hisab and Ru’yat Expert which was attended by representatives from 19 Islamic countries, plus three international Muslim organizations from Europe.

There were three important agreements of Istanbul Convention, the first, agreed one date for the Islamic world. Second, ru’yatul hilal (moon sight) of a country could be received to all countries. Third, Mecca Al-Mukarramah as central information in deciding the beginning of the month hijriyah.

Grand Mufti of Al-Quds, Palestine, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein reminded Muslims all around the world, that Saudi through the testimony of the new moon, should be followed by other countries. Because Mecca is the center pilgrims in the holy land of Mecca al-Mukarramah.

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia also asked the Muslims all around the world to refer to the decision of Saudi as the center who led millions of Muslims on pilgrimage to the Holy Land. (L/R12/P007/R03)
