INDONESIA GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE FAIR IN FPI CASE
Jakarta, 15 Dzulhijjah 1435/9 October 2014 (MINA) – The Islamic Political observer from the University of Indonesia (UI), Dr. Abdul Muta’ali said, Indonesian government in this case, Jakarta regional police and the government should be fair dealing with the case of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).
“The fifth article of Pancasila is said the fair to all Indonesia people. This one should also be applied in seeing FPI case, “said Abdul Muta’ali when Mi’raj Islamic News Agnecy (MINA) met him in Jakarta, Thursday.
The lecturer as well as the director of Center for Middle East and Islamic Studies said that the government should be grateful for the existance of FPI in Indonesia. According to him, that institution is consistent in combating disobedience in several regions in Indonesia.
“FPI has done a lot to do social activity to Indonesian people. For example, when 2004 tsunami disaster, they were among the most persistent evacuating the victims and bring relief to Acehnese. They also gave aid to some affected areas such as Padang, Yogyakarta, and others, “he explained.
According to him, violence and radicalism that occurred in some countries, also in Indonesia is the impact of state injustice in its discretion. They feel as the aggrieved party, so that those who have the power trying to do the insurgency.
Furthermore, the lecturer suggested that the government sould accommodate any aspirations that exist in the community so that what the demands and requirements can be realized.
Muta’ali wrote a book entitled Building Strong State, Contributions of Islam to Western Political Thought, published in 2013. (L/P008/R03)
