Indonesia-Cambodia Explores Cooperation in Islamic Education

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Minister of Religion, Fachrul Razi is apostatizing the religious life of Muslims in Cambodia. It was conveyed after hearing the exposure of Cambodian Muslim religious life from Minister of Islamic Affairs of Cambodia HE Oknha Datuk Dr. Othsman Hassan.

“Although, Cambodian Muslims are a minority, their existence is highly respected by Cambodians who are predominantly Buddhist. It shows that Islam is Rahmatan Lil Alamin. We are proud of religious life in Cambodia, “said Razi in his written statement on Thursday, October 31.

During the meeting, the two Ministers together with delegation discussed the religious life and explored cooperation in the field of Islamic religious education and halal industry.

Razi said he was happy with the meeting, let alone heard the news that Cambodian Muslims were friendly, respected, and well-received by the majority, including holding strategic positions in government and parliament.

“I am the Minister of Religion of Indonesia, not only overseeing Islam, but also various other religions. Besides Islam, in Indonesia, there are Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu, and Confucianism. Concerning religious life, especially Islam in Indonesia and other religions from time to time continue to improve, “said the Minister.

Meanwhile, Hassan said the Cambodian Muslim population was only five percent in the country that adhered to the majority of Buddhism. As a minority, the existence of Cambodian Muslims was highly respected by the majority religion and the kingdom of Cambodia.

“There are Cambodian Muslims who sit in government and parliament and other strategic positions. Cambodian Muslims are known to be friendly,” said Hassan.

He hopes that his visit with the delegation can enhance cooperation that has been established in the field of religious education, especially Islamic education, in religious matters including halal industry. (T/Sj)
