Islamabad, 14 Shawwal 1438/9 July 2017 (MINA) – At least four civilians were killed and six others were wounded on Saturday due to unprovoked cross border firing and shelling by Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan administered Kashmir region.

According to Pakistan military’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Indian Army targeted Chirikot and Satwal sector of Kashmir along the LoC by firing of small arms and heavy weapons including mortars.

A senior administrative official of Poonch district, DC Raja Tahir Mumtaz told KUNA that there has been heavy firing and shelling by Indian troops in different parts of Chirikot and Satwal sectors of Poonch.

He confirmed that a 75-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were killed in Bhaira village near the Tetrinote after a mortar shell landed on a mud-house, destroying it completely. A 26-year-old woman was killed and two teenage girls were wounded in the Satwal village.

Another 35-year-old woman was killed and her 14-year-old son injured in the Dhakki Chafar village of Abbaspur sector, he added. Three civilians were injured in Batol and Chaatra villages of the same sector.

Earlier last month, Pakistan Foreign Office condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces targeting civilians along the heavily militarized LoC that splits the disputed Kashmir region between Pakistan and India. (T/RS5/RS1)
