General Strike in Gaza on 1st Anniversary of Return March

Gaza, MINA – The Higher National Committee for the Great March of Return and Breaking the Siege has called for a general strike in Gaza on Saturday, 30 March, marking the Palestinian Land Day and the first anniversary of the Great March of Return.

The committee released a statement calling on the Palestinians in the West Bank, the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories, and the diaspora to organize peaceful protests at the same time to commemorate Land Day, PIC reported.

The committee stressed that Saturday’s protests will be purely peaceful and will include events aimed at reviving the Palestinian national heritage.

Saturday, 30 March, marks the first anniversary of the Great March of Return in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Great March of Return is a mass demonstration launched on a weekly basis along the border between the Gaza Strip and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories.

The border protests mainly demand the return of Palestinian refugees to their lands and pressure the Israeli occupation to lift the 13-year-long blockade on Gaza.(R/R04/P2)
