Egypt to Host Summits to Discuss Sudan and Libya

Cairo, MINA – Egypt will host two consultative summits Tuesday to discuss recent developments in Sudan and Libya, according to a statement from the president’s office.

The summit on Sudan will discuss ways to support peace and stability in the country and issues related to strengthening joint action, said the statement, without elaborating, as quoted by Anadolu Agency, Tuesday.

Among those expected to attend are Chad’s President Idriss Deby, Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat along with top officials and representatives from Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria.

The summit on Libya will focus on halting the current crisis and reviving the political process as well as the fight against terrorism in the country.

The participants will include Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat and Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who is also chairman of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya.(T/R04/P2)
