Rohingya, 12 Jumaddil Awwal 1436/3 March 2015 (MINA) – Eighteen Rohingya were arrested and pushed back to Burma recently by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), a local from Teknaf said.

“They were arrested from the Bangladesh-Burma border while entering the Bangladesh by illegal way,” the source said, according to RNA-Press  reports as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

According to locals, Rohingya people come to Bangladesh from Arakan State, Burma to save their lives as they have no security – lives, education, movement, health, foodstuff, livestock, marriage, ban for registration of new babies and security in Burma. The Burmese government harasses and tights restriction for all sorts against the Rohingya community.

The locals also said that most of Rohingya people are not able to work for their survival.

Lt. Col. Khondakar Siaful Alam of Cox’ Bazar Battalion No. 17 said that they were sent back to Burma again on February 27, after being investigated by BGB.

According to local newspaper in border areas of Bangladesh, more than 700 Rohingya people were arrested from Bangladesh-Burma border and pushed back to Burma by BGB within the month of February 2015. (T/R04/P3)
