Asian Games – President Jokowi to Watch Badminton Final Match

Jakarta, MINA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is expected to watch the badminton men`s final match, where Indonesia will meet China in the Asian Games 2018 in Istora of the Gelora Bung Karno main stadium, here, Wednesday evening.

“Insha Allah (God Willing) I will watch,” President Jokowi said after performing Eid al Adha prayers here, Wednesday (22/8), Antaranews reported.

The Head of State hoped that Indonesia`s athletes could achieve the target that has been set.

“We should do our best to achieve the target that has been set. We should not miss this opportunity. We can surpass it, but not miss it,” he said.

He lauded the gold medals that Indonesia had grabbed so far.

“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), the latest one was a gold medal in weightlifting grabbed by Eko Yuli. We should be grateful. Hopefully, today we will gain more, and tomorrow as well. We hope so, because the target is not a small one,” he said.

The Indonesia men`s badminton team defeated Japan 3-1 in the semifinal.

The Indonesian team in the semifinal comprised Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Fajar Alfian/Muhmmad Rian Ardianto, while the men`s single player was Jonatan Christie.

Meanwhile, Japan`s Kento Mamato defeated Anthony Ginting in the men`s single badminton match.(R/R04/RS5)
