Arab League Discusses Israeli Infiltration in Africa
Benyamin Netanyahu makes a historic visit to the African continent.
Cairo, 18 Ramadan 1438/13 June 2017 (MINA) — The Council of the Arab League held an extraordinary session on Monday at the level of permanent representatives, to discuss the Palestinian cause and confronting the growing Israeli infiltration in Africa, KUNA reported.
Speaking at the event, Palestine’s permanent representative Jamal Al-Shoubaki warned against the dangers of Israel’s infiltration in Africa on resolving issues facing Arab states and the region’s stability.
Israel is trying to present itself as an independent state in the Middle East region and Africa, despite its crimes against Palestinians, he noted.
In this matter, he mentioned the tour of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a number of African countries last July. He also spoke of Netanyahu’s participation in the summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) last week, and his attempts to organize Africa-Israel summit with Togo next October.
Al-Shoubaki noted that Israel, which has diplomatic ties with about 45 African states, was able to affect these countries’ voting against articles supporting the Palestinian Cause in the UN’s bodies.
Meanwhile, he called on the Arab World to take serious measures to face the growing Israeli threat and fully support his country on regional and international levels.
He also called on the Arab League’s missions in Africa to exert further efforts to prevent the Israeli effect from expanding in the continent. (T/RS5/RS1)
