ACTIVISTS CONTINUE SOLIDARITY PROTEST FOR HUNGER STRIKE DETAINEES
Gaza, 15 Rajab 1435/14 May 2014 (MINA) – Dozens of Palestinians on Wednesday (14/5) held a solidarity action for mass hunger strike detainees in Israeli occupation jails, after the last parade that was attended by Palestinian political figures including Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, who joined in such action.
In addition to the action in front of the International Red Cross office in Gaza City, the Palestinian residents also held photo exhibition of hundreds of prisoners. The protesters are also on a hunger strike with only drinking water and salts that are being carried out by Palestinian detainees in the occupation jails, MINA correspondent reported.
One of protesters from Shijaiya, east of Gaza City, Wail Mamluks said this is his 10th days on a hunger strike and only drink water with salt.
“Their (the Palestinian prisoners on hunger strikes) condition in Israeli occupation jails today are very critical, many of them suffering from various diseases,” said the man who had been detained for 10 years in Israel jails.
“We ask the Arab and Muslim world to help the Palestinian inmates in the prisons, it would be our sin if we do not help them,” he stressed out.
Entering the 21st day, about 200 prisoners in Israeli occupation jails on hunger strike to only drink water mixed with salt, demanding authorities to release those detained administratively, without trial and clear charges.
Moreover the administrative detainees were banned to be visited either by family or lawyers.
“We reiterate we will liberate the prisoners with resistance, with kidnapping Israeli soldiers if necessary,” said the former prisoner with enthusiasm.
Various efforts were tried by Gazan government to free the detainees. Such actions were held in Gaza since last few months aimed to arouse the Arab and Islamic world to help them.(L/K1/K2/K3/P03/E01)
