Amid Dhaka Row, Zakir Naik Calls IS Anti-Islamic
Dhaka, 19 Syawwal 1437/24 July 2016 (MINA) – Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik calls Islamic State as anti-Islam state as they kill innocent people.
In an interview with The Economic Times, the founder of Peace TV, now banned in Bangladesh, also denied allegations that his followers included attackers of Dhaka’s Gulshan cafe that left 22 people killed. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the Dhaka attack.
Asked about his views on Islamic State, the preacher said IS is killing innocent people which, according to the Quran, is a sin against humanity.
“I call them anti-Islam state. They have given a wrong meaning to Islam,” he added, Prothom Alo International reported.
Zakir Naik also denied allegations of converting Hindus to Islam, saying, “Thousands of people have embraced Islam after hearing my speeches. Allah has given them guidance.”
About the ban of his Peace TV in Bangladesh, he claimed that Bangladesh is the first country to ban it. (T/P4/R07)
