Cairo, 19 Jumadil Awwal 1436/10 March 2015 (MINA)–  Three Egyptian soldiers were killed on Monday when a bomb exploded on the main road between Kharruba village and Sheikh Zuweid in the northern Sinai, military officials said.

Egyptian officials said a military jeep was hit by a remotely detonated roadside bomb, killing three soldiers and critically wounding another, Ma’an News Agency by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The Egyptian military has poured troops and armor into the peninsula to quell an insurgency which picked up after the army toppled democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

Despite the unprecedented deployment and repeated airstrikes, the militants have continued to stage large-scale attacks every few months. (T/P010/R03)
