UNESCO CONDEMNS ISRAEL PRACTICES IN JERUSALEM
Jerusalem, 6 Muharram 1436/30 October 2014 (MINA) – The Executive Board of UNESCO approved on its 195 session the recommendation of Jordan and Palestine to redefine Israel in the international law as an occupying power.
Jordan and Palestine, supported by Arab, Islamic and International consensus, submitted a set of recommendations regarding the Israeli violations against Jerusalem, Mughrabi Gate, Hebron and Gaza in addition to the educational institutions, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Tuesday.
All the recommendations are listed under the title Occupied Palestine. The decision stressed the definition of the International law to Israel and all its practices on 1967 land of occupied Palestine as an occupation power.
It also explained that any change to the status quo as it was before 1967, is a violation and an illegal occupational practice.
The Broad adopted the recommendation of King Abdullah II to take all necessary procedures , including legal measures, to stop the Israeli aggressions and violations against al-Aqsa mosque and the holy sites.
The decision strongly denounced the escalation of Israeli occupation authorities and plans against the holy site.
The decision also condemned all violations committed against Mughrabi Gate, calling Israel, as an occupation power, to enable the Jordanian ministry of religious affairs to reface the Mughrabi gate road and to build the Jordanian design of the bridge leading to the Mughrabi Gate.
It called Israel to stop excavations in the place and to respect the decisions of UNESCO in this regard.
It also called Israel to respect the guarantees that it provided not to make any changes to the status quo that existed before 1967 at the site of Mughrabi gate, urging it to accept the UNESCO expert mission on Jerusalem and Mughrabi gate.
The statement condemned the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip and the attacking of civilians , children, schools, educational institutions in Gaza. It called Israel for lifting the siege according to Cairo Agreement in 2014.
It also denounced Israeli violations in Hebron , denying Palestinians of free movement, and the freedom access to places of worship, calling Israeli to stop these violations under the conventions of international law and agreements and decisions of UNESCO. (T/P002/P3)
