ISRAELI LOBBY PRESSURES UK TO SUPPORT TEL AVIV
London, 8 Shawwal 1435/4 August 2014 (MINA) – Reports say Israeli lobby groups are pressing the British government and parliament so that they maintain their staunch support for the Tel Aviv regime.
According to reports, up to 80 percent of Conservative Members of the British parliament belong to the so-called Conservative Friends of Israel lobby group, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
The pro-Israeli lobbies are reportedly bankrolling and influencing the UK politicians via their donations to political parties.
British Prime Minister David Cameron expressed his full support for the Israeli regime’s brutal military offensive against the defenseless Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in July.
In a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Cameron reassured the Israeli regime of Britain’s support for the ongoing Israeli bombing campaign against the besieged Gaza.
Meanwhile, new revelations show that Israel has been using weapons containing British-made components in the fatal aggression against the Gaza Strip.
The UK daily The Independent recently revealed that arms export licenses worth $70 million have been granted to 130 British defense manufacturers since 2010 to sell military equipment to the Tel Aviv regime. These range from bulletproof garments to naval gun parts and armored vehicles. (T/P09/E01)
