HAMAS PRODUCES TV DRAMA ABOUT PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE
Gaza City, 29 Sha’ban 1435/ 27 June 2014 (MINA) –The Al-Aqsa TV channel, which is subordinate to the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, has produced a TV series about the Palestinian resistance that will be aired during the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadan.
“This is the first drama of its kind in Palestine in terms of size and duration,” said the director, Ammar Al-Talawy.
Such productions are not common in the Gaza strip because there are no cinemas or performing arts institutions there, Al-Qabas quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
The series – named “Al-Rouh” (“The Soul”) – has 30 episodes, each of which is more than 40 minutes long. It was shot in three months with the participation of 60 amateur actors.
The plot is about two Palestinian brothers who live with their family in a refugee camp after their house was bombed by Israeli forces.
One of them is focused on getting an education but is arrested and tortured by Israeli authorities. After his release, he joins his brother in the Palestinian resistance.
“This production shows the bright side of the Palestinian resistance and the social aspects of those who fight against occupation, injustice and tyranny,” said the director of the Production Department at Al-Aqsa.(T/P02/E01)
