ISIS leader killed in US covert operations
Washington, MINA – Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), is believed to have been killed or captured in secret operations, according to Newsweek, Saturday (10/26).
While a US military informant told Newsweek the results of the operation that Baghdadi was killed in the attack.
The United States military has carried out special operations targeting one of the highest-value targets, Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS.
Donald Trump approved the mission almost a week before it happened, Townhall reported.
Amid reports on Saturday, US military helicopters in Syria’s northwest Idlib province, a senior Pentagon official familiar with the operation and Army officials explained that Baghdadi was the target of covert operations at the country’s last stronghold.
The Department of Defense told the White House that they had “high confidence” that the high-value target killed was Baghdadi. However further verification is awaiting.
Trump make a statement Sunday morning at 9 am local time, according to NBC News.
“Something very big just happened!” Trump tweeted at 9:23 a.m. on Saturday.
The US also announced on Friday that three ISIS fighters were killed in a US airstrike in the Golis Mountains in northern Somalia.
