Ankara, 13 Shawwal 1438/8 July 2017 (MINA) – President Joko Widodo performed a tahiyatul masjid prayer as soon as he arrived at the biggest mosque in Ankara city, Kocatepe Mosque in Kocatepe complex in Kizilay, Ankara, Antara News reported.

The tahiyatul masjid prayer is a symbolic gesture of respect toward a mosque.
Widodo, who was accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, arrived at Kocatepe Mosque on Thursday at around 09.20 local time.
Indonesian people who live in Turkey welcomed Widodo to the largest mosque.
The president greeted and interacted briefly with them.

On the occasion, Widodo was greeted by the President of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey, Mehmet G?rmez, before performing the prayer.
Widodo and his entourage spent around 40 minutes at the mosque before heading to the Turkish Presidential Palace.
He is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. (T/RS5/RS1)
