Astana, 19 Jumadil Awwal 1438/17 February 2017 (MINA) – Turkey, Russia and Iran on Thursday agreed to set up a joint commission to supervise Syria ceasefire.

Anadolu Agency quoted a diplomatic source who spoke on condition of anonymity as saying that the parties will finalize the technical details of the agreement in Turkey. The date of the meeting in Ankara was not specified.

“This common group will ensure and monitor the truce in particular. It will also work on different aspects of the political process,” Russian Special Envoy on Syria Alexander Lavrentiev told reporters after the meeting in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan.

Astana hosted another round of intra-Syrian peace talks with representatives of Russia, Turkey and Iran, who agreed last month to create a ceasefire monitoring group.
