Right Group: Palestinian Female Detainees Torturned in Israeli Jail

AL-Khalil, 30 Muharram 1438/31 October 2016 (MINA) – Palestinian women incarcerated in the HaSharon jail have been subjected to mistreatment and harsh crackdowns, a human rights group warned Sunday.

A statement by the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) sounded alarm bells over the oppressive policies perpetrated against Palestinian women in HaSharon lock up, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

Palestinian female detainees have reportedly been kept chained hand and feet during inter-prison transfers, medical check-up sessions, and during family visits.

PPS spoke out against the systematic policies of psycho-physical torture pursued in HaSharon prison, saying they rather aim to dampen the prisoners’ spirits.

About 61 Palestinian women, including a 12-year-old minor, are currently jailed in the Israeli HaSharon and Damon lock-ups.(T/P008/R07)
