Gaza, 20 Ramadan 1436/7 July 2015 (MINA) – Qatar’s Sheikh Eid Charitable Association hosted a group Iftar dinner for 20,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Saturday.

Ibrahim Al-Qara, the association’s coordinator, said that the iftar, which was held simultaneously in Al-Kateeba Square in the west of Gaza city and in Khan Younis municipality in southern Gaza, is “the largest of its kind in Palestine.”

He noted that the purpose of this Iftar was to “send a humanitarian message to the word that the Gazans are still suffering and that action must be taken to lift the siege.” Middle East Monitor (Memo) reports as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

According to Al-Qara, the owners of homes destroyed in the latest Israeli war on Gaza were present at the iftar, as well as those who were injured by the war and less-fortunate families.

The iftar was attended by a number of political figures, including the deputy chairman of Hamas’s Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, who praised the role played by the Qataris and other charities working to support the Palestinian people. (T/P002/R03)
