President Jokowi: Tourism Sector Employs Many Workers
Simalungun, 18 Dzulqa’dah 1437/ 21 August 2016 (MINA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the tourism sector is the most employs many workers rather than other sectors.
“Tourism at most employs workers, so the community need to support it by exposing their culture,” the president said in a meeting with community leaders in Inna Parapat Hotel, Lake Toba, Simalungun, North Sumatra, Saturday night. Antaranews reported.
President also called on the community to give the best service to tourists who come to their city to give them convenient.
“I hope the community leaders can give guidance to society,” the president said Jokowi.
President mentioned the Lake Toba region has great potential to grow rapidly. The area was already known to the international community as a great tourism destination.
President Jokowi also stressed, “What we are developing here is eco-tourism. The government also will have built a place of meeting, conference and exhibition which will cover 600 hectares, so it can strengthen character, cultural values, and cultural heritage.”
According to the President, to develop the area, first to do is to increase the capacity of Silangit airport by lengthening and widening the runway.
“I ordered the minister of Transportation and Angkasa Pura to widen and extend the runway,” the president said.
President Jokowi also ordered Garuda Indonesia airplane to fly into Silangit three times a day.
In addition, President Jokowi said that the government will build a world-class flower garden to support the development of the tourism sector there.
“Tomorrow I want to see the place,” the president said.
Therefore, the President also hoped that people around Lake Toba planting trees to maintain the quality of the environment.
“This afternoon I’ve plant. The target is 300,000 per district, one million per year. We do not want the water of Lake Toba reduced because of environmental degradation,” said the Presiden. .(T/R03/R04)
