President Erdogan Invited to Attend Opening of Cambridge Mosque

London, MINA – British singer, Yusuf Islam invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to attend the opening ceremony of Cambridge Mosque which is scheduled to be held next month.

The invitation was delivered when he held a meeting with Erdogan in Istanbul some time ago, thus quoted from Anadolu Agency news agency on Tuesday, November 5.

Cambridge Mosque was built jointly by Muslim Academic Foundation led by Islam and Turkish Directorate of Religious Affairs Foundation (Diyanet). In a statement, Islam said it was very grateful to Erdogan for his efforts to help build the house of worship.

“Turkey has become the cradle of various cultures and civilizations throughout history,” said Islam.

Furthermore, Islam said that Cambridge Mosque would be the first friendly mosque in Britain, even throughout Europe. The Muslim house of worship will also serve as a cultural hub in the historic city of the country in western Europe. (T/Sj/P2)
