Manila, 10 Rabiul Akhir 1437/20 January 2016 (MINA) – Philippine security agencies need to verify the information that the weapons used during the recent terrorist attacks in Indonesian capital came from the Philippines, a senior government official said Tuesday.

The move came after Indonesian Police Spokesperson Anton Charliyan was quoted as saying that the guns were likely to have come from the Philippines based on information gathered from those arrested after the attack.

The Jakarta terror attack occurred on Thursday, killing at least eight people.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said there is a regular exchange of information among member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN),  Xinhua quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting..

“We are still waiting the information from our security cluster and security forces,” he said in a news briefing in Malacanang, the presidential palace.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are still awaiting a formal report from their Indonesian counterparts.  (T/R07/R03  )
