Nablus, 18 Rabi’ul Awwal 1437/29 December 2015 (MINA) – Dozens of Palestinian orphans and widows on Tuesday (29/12) organized a sit-in in Nablus city in protest at Israel’s closure of the humanitarian relief foundation al-Egatha al-Insaneya, which provides assistance for thousands of orphans.

Orphan children carried banners demanding the Israeli occupation authority to reopen the foundation and stop depriving them of living a decent life, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Director of the foundation in Nazareth Ra’ed al-Zoabi and deputy mayor of Nablus Annan al-Atira participated in the protest.

Zoabi told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the Israeli closure decision against the foundation, which was issued about one month ago, was illegal and made without prior notice, describing it as a politically-motivated measure aimed at punishing the Islamic Movement in the 1948 occupied lands.

He affirmed that the foundation is an independent humanitarian society that provides support for 32,000 orphans in the West Bank and Gaza.(T/P008/R04)
